What happens with late utility payments and disconnects?

Utility customers have 16 days to pay their bill from the date it is issued. Utility bills are sent out on the 5th or the 20th of each month depending on the location of service. A 5% penalty is added to commercial accounts if not paid by the due date. If you have not paid your bill by the due date, you will be sent a disconnect notice, giving the date your utilities will be disconnected unless payment is received. The disconnect date is approximately ten days after the due date. A $25 reconnect fee will be added to services disconnected. No service will be reinstated until all charges, including the past due bill, are paid. The City will not disconnect service on Fridays, weekends, or holidays.
